of the Lys in April 1918, the remnants of The Royal Guernsey
Light Infantry were allocated to Field Marshal Sir Douglas
Haig to end their days in France guarding GHQ at Montreuil-sur-Mer

On 7th August 1918 King George V visited Field Marshal
Sir Douglas Haig, joining French President Raymond Poincaré
and Marshals Foch and Joffre, to reaffirm the allied
commitment to defeating the enemy
