He probably died of wounds received during the final attack on Passchendaele Ridge during the 3rd Battle of Ypres in November 1917. He is buried in one of the original graves at Tyne Cot Cemetery, formed when the captured German bunker was being used as a Regimental Aid Post. (IWM)
