Alderney (St Anne) Churchyard
Born at Burslem, Staffordshire. Grandson of William
& Jane Downes of Burslem. He was employed as a potter.
Frank Downes was murdered by another soldier whilst
on guard duty in Alderney. He died from a gunshot.
Died, aged 19 years.
