Private Basil Ward Guilbert

Son of Eugene C. Guilbert, of 371, Wallesey St., Gaspe Co., Sturgeon Creek, Manitoba. Born at Guernsey. Enlisted at Winnipeg.

Killed in a raid on a heavily defended German trench in the days following the battle for Vimy Ridge, aged 19. The next Battalion failed to provide the necessary support and the attack was a disaster.
