1914-15 Star

Son of Patrick and Mary Ann O'Meara. Husband of L. H. O'Meara, of Shamrock Cottage, Delancey, St Sampson's, Guernsey. Born at St Sampson's, Guernsey. Enlisted at Guernsey.

Killed in action, aged 37 years

Pte O'Meara was a son of the late Mr Patrick O'Meara, and of Mrs O'Meara, of Shamrock Cottage, and previous to the war was employed by Messrs Manuelle and Co, as foreman at the Longue Hougue quarry. He was at one time a member of the Volunteer Corps, and enlisted for active service in September 1914. He was severely gassed just over a year ago, and after hospital treatment in England, he spent a fortnight in Guernsey on sick leave.
Pte O'Meara at one time played full back in the Northerners' football team. He was 38 years of age, and leaves a widow and two children, Lily aged 14, and John, aged 8, to mourn his loss.
