Victor has sergeant stripes on his uniform - this was
from before he left Australia, where he was granted
the rank of temporary Sergeant while the troops were
organizing themselves in Adelaide and Perth before the
voyage. His rank reverted to Private when his group
was merged into "A" Coy in Egypt before finally
heading to Europe.
Son of Guernsey born John Blondel Simon and Eliza Simon,
of Charles St., Paddington, South Australia.
