Lawrence Roper Butt

Private Lawrence Roper Butt
1st Battalion, Royal Guernsey Light Infantry
(formerly 9th DAC, Royal Field Artillery)

Wounded on 29/11/1917 and invalided to England on 05/12/1917 to the University War Hospital, Southampton.
Discharged on 17/03/1918 with Discharge Badge no. 348939

Born in 1892 at St Andrew's, Guernsey. Son of James Kell Butt and Louisa Butt. Brother of Bombardier Percy Roland Butt and of Bertram James Butt, US Army

The photograph above show him wearing a Royal Irish Regiment cap badge. Lawrence never served in that regiment. We can only guess that he was asked to wear an available cap by the photo studio. Writing on the reverse confirms that it is a photograph of Lawrence Butt
