Family notes state that he volunteered (No745)? for the Militia in 1914 and served as Q.M./Sgt at Fort George Guernsey, being unfit for overseas duty.
At the time of his marriage, the newspaper reported that he was a Private in the 1st Service Coy., Royal Guernsey Light Infantry.

Born in 1891 at St Peter Port, Guernsey. Husband of Blanche Madeleine Bretel. Brother of Eugene Emile and Claude John.

Despite this humble beginnings, he rose from office boy to Chairman/MD of the Guernsey Press

He died in 1951
