Harold Druce

Private Harold Druce
"D" Coy, 7th Battalion , Royal Irish Regiment

Born on 31/05/1900 at St Peter Port, Guernsey, the Son of Reginald Druce & Ellen Louise Stewart. He claimed that he was 19 when he enlisted with his friend from Vauvert School (Finnigan) on 04/10/1915 when he was only 15.
Discharged 28/08/1916 at Portobello Barracks, Dublin aged 15 years and 359 days. 5ft 3.5 in tall, chest 31.5in, fair hair, blue eyes, 105lb, formerly gardener of 2 Strand, St Peter Port. "For having made a false statement as to age at attestation". His military character was shown as "good" and was employed at ordinary duty. Served 327 days. He managed to get as far as Etaples in France on 08/06/1916 but was then shipped back to England on 19/06/1916 as underage.

Harold then joined Royal Navy as stoker (K46372) on 10 October 1917 when he lied about his age again!

Born in 1900 at St Peter Port, Guernsey. Enlisted underage in 1915. Son of Sapper Reginald & Ellen Druce.
