Private Philip Hamon
2nd Battalion, Royal Guernsey Light

Born in 1895 at Sark. Son of John Samuel Hamon and
Annie De Carteret. Brother of John (Jeanette), William
and Walter. Married to Henriette Jane Hamon. Father
of Henriette Jane.
He suffered a serious leg injury whilst out rabbiting,
his loaded shotgun was dropped onto rocks and both barrels
fired. As a result his lower leg was amputated. He did
not embark for France. Known as 'Pegleg'. Died 1976
aged 80.
Lived at La Ville, Sark
Member of Methodist Chapel Sunday School. Member of
Sark British Legion.
