1914-1915 Star

War Service. 1914-18 Joined the Ceylon Planters Corps for service abroad, 1914. Egypt, 1914. Suez Canal, January-March, 1915. Commissioned 2nd Lieut. 2nd Bn. Hampshire Regt., March 1915 and attached to the Australian I.F. for training recruits till August 1915, then joining the Regt. at Suvla Bay [Gallipoli]. Capt., 1915. Evacuation of Helles [Gallipoli]. Later at Suez. Invalided to England in 1917 for permanent Home Service. Seconded to the RFC October 1917 and appointed to the 88th Squadron Adjutant. Went to France in March 1918 and remained till demobilised in April 1919. Returned to Ceylon, August 1919.

Born in 1889 at Guernsey. Died in 1956 at Dumfries, Scotland. Son of William (Willie) John Jones, born 24 Oct 1850 in Devonport, Devon, & Guernsey born Amelia Hammond Robilliard, born 25 Mar 1851 St Peter Port, Guernsey. Attended Elizabeth College, Guernsey.
