Lance Corporal Alfred John Le Page
1st Battalion, Royal Guernsey Light Infantry

 

Born in 1897 at Vale, Guernsey. Son of stoneworker Alfred N & Harriet Le Page.
Resident at Link View, Les Marais, Vale. Husband of Eunice. Died at home "Montreuil", Guernsey on 15th June 1973.

He enlisted 10/04/1917 and joined the battalion in France on 03/11/1917. He was hospitalised from the effects of a gas shell on 24/03/1918 and re-joined the battalion on 15/05/1918.

On 12/09/1918 he was appointed unpaid lance corporal and posted to GHQ Intelligence Section at Ecuires as a clerk.

On leave from 20/11/1918 - 05/12/1918. He was appointed paid acting lance corporal on 13/04/1919, losing this rank on 15/05/1919. Leaving for the UK on 21/05/1919, he was discharged to the reserve 24/06/1919.
