Major Robert William Randall
Royal Garrison Artillery (ex Royal Guernsey Artillery & Engineers)

Born in 1878 at St Peter Port, Guernsey. Son of Robert Henry Randall and Eliza Mary Cohu of Les Vauxlaurens, St Peter Port, Guernsey.

His father was the founder of Randall’s Brewery (Guernsey) – whose father had founded Randall’s Brewery in Jersey.

When WWI broke out he was a Major in Royal Guernsey Artillery (militia). He was awarded the Victory Medal and Italian Silver Medal. After the war he was promoted to Honorary Lieut-Colonel in 1922. ADC to the King in 1928 and became 2nd i/c of the reconstituted Royal Guernsey Milita in 1929.

RANDAL Robert William. Major, 480 Siege Battery R.G.A. On the Asiago plateau, on 24 October 1918, he remained continuously in contact with his artillery, demonstrating a very high sense of duty and great courage.

His magnificent example contributes to obtaining the maximum performance of his officers and his men – Asiago 24th October 1918.
