Guernsey. Son of John (Jean Savident) and Lucie Le Maitre.
Brother of John William Savident who also served in
CEF. Emigrated to Canada 1907 with his brother William
on SS St Louis (Southampton to New York) to join brother
John at Revelstoke in British Columbia. Enlisted 17/01/1916.
Living at 733 Collinson Street, Victoria,
British Columbia. Labourer. Served for 2 years in Territorials.
Sailed to England on SS Olympic 31/07/1916. Wounded
and gassed 13/06/1917 at Wimereux. Wounded again on
08/08/1918. Pay deducted for being drunk, having alcohol,
making remarks and going awol (more than once) also
malingering. Promoted to Sergeant! Awarded Military
Medal 03/07/1919.
Sailed back to Canada on HMTS Mauritania.
Discharged 15/06/1919. 5ft 8.5in, 34in chest, ruddy
complexion, brown eyes and brown hair. Methodist. Separation
allowance paid to his mother until 01/07/1919. Married
Lizzie Stewart 24/10/1925, Victoria. d. 26/06/1951,
1454 Hillside Avenue, Victoria, Vancouver Island.
