Husband of Violet Gordon Taylor, formerly Dobrée (d.1907) & Ernestine Mary Taylor (de Satge St John). Son of former Crimean War army chaplain, Revd. Haydon Aldersey Taylor and Mary Coutart Taylor.

Born in 1860 at Guernsey. Died in 1939 at Bournemouth.

He initially served as an officer in the 28th Regiment (North Gloucestershire) before amalgamation in 1881 and it became the Gloucestershire regiment.

Serving in South Africa with 2nd Battalion, he eventually became CO of the battalion until retiring to the Reserve of Officers in 1911 as a Lt Colonel.

At the outbreak of ww1 he was made Brevet Colonel and General Staff Officer 3rd grade and appointed to the Censor Staff.

He was appointed COMMANDANT ON THE LINES OF COMMUNICATION (vice Lt Col R C Lye DSO) 25/1/1916

Graded AAG 2/12/1916 and made Temporary Brigadier General whilst Commandant of a base on 6/7/1917.

He was MENTIONED IN DESPATCHES three times: LONDON GAZETTE 1/6/1915,
1/2/1917 and 7/12/1917, awarded a CMG on 1/1/1917 and the Belgian ORDRE DE LA CORUNNE on 8/3/1918.

He died in Bournemouth in 1939.
