Born in 1897 at St Peter Port, Guernsey, the son of
Arthur and Helen L Wright.

Fred Robert Wright was born in St Peters Port, Guernsey,
Channel Islands, during 1887,the son of Arthur and Helen
L Wright. In 1901, he was a Telegraph Messenger. During
1911, he was serving as a Bombardier with the 88th Battery
RFA based at Minden Barracks, Deepcut, Surrey. Fred
landed in France on 23rd August, 1914, with the 14th
Brigade, Royal Field Artillery.
He was Mentioned in Despatches on the 11th
December, 1917.
Wright also served with 4th Artillery Reserve Brigade
and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal in recognition
of valuable services rendered with the Armies in France
and Flanders in the London Gazette Peace Gazette
of 3rd June, 1919.
He was a resident of Crouch Hill. London. Fred married
Edith Maud Pulton at Colchester on 2nd April, 1921.
He was awarded the LSGC in the Army Orders for April,
1921. BSM Wright was discharged on termination of engagement
on 27th March, 1926. Fred Wright re-enlisted into the
103rd Field Brigade (Territorial Army) on 25th August,
1927. He was discharged from the Territorial Army on
3rd November, 1928.
