NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Friday 19 May 1916

Member of the Jersey Company Killed at the Front. To the long list of Jerseymen who have given up their lives during the present war another name has to be added, that of Rifleman C E R Mallet of the Jersey Company Royal Irish Rifles, who was killed at the Front last Sunday night. The deceased was 21 and the eldest son of Mrs P Mallet of Gorey. He was formerly a hairdresser at Gorey where he had many friends who will hear of his death with genuine regret. His brother, a lad of 18, Rifleman A Mallet of the same Company is at present in the Island on a few days leave. We offer our sincere sympathy to the sorrowing mother and family
