Death of a Jersey Officer in the Persian Gulf. News has been received of the death of Lieutenant A L N Maxwell-Moffat of the 2nd Battalion Dorsetshire Regiment who succumbed to the wounds received in the Persian Gulf about 17 November. The deceased officer who was the son of the late Dr Maxwell-Moffat, who practised for many years in Jersey, was 24. He was a pupil at Victoria College from 1902-08 and was the first Lieutenant to serve under Captain R R Raymer when the CCF was formed, afterwards he took a commission in the Jersey Militia and was later commissioned in the Prince of Wales West Yorkshire Regiment. He was subsequently transferred to the 2nd Battalion Dorsetshire Regiment stationed at Poonah, where he was Brigade Signalling Officer. His mother is still living and resides at Lee on Solent.
