NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Tuesday 1 May 1917

Roll of Honour. A few days ago we stated that the parents of Sergeant Clarence George Minchington of the Jersey Company 7th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles had received news that their son was laying seriously ill in hospital somewhere in France, and we now regret to hear that the Sergeant passed away on 24 April after a short and painful illness. The gallant NCO volunteered and was accepted for service with the Jersey Company Royal Irish Rifles and left the Island a Lance Corporal and, being a most efficient soldier, quickly received promotion. He was the third son of Mr & Mrs Minchington of St Johns and was in his 23rd year. The family received the sad news from Regimental Sergeant Major Le Breton. We tender the bereaved family our heartfelt sympathy and feel sure our readers join us in regretting the loss of another of the gallant and loyal band of Jersey volunteers.

NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Thursday 26 April 1917

In Hospital. Mrs Minchington of St Johns has received official news that her son, Sergeant C Minchington of the Jersey Company Royal Irish Rifles, is lying seriously ill in hospital somewhere in France. We hope that favourable news will soon be received.
