NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Saturday 20 February 1915

Roll of Honour. News has been received in the Island that Private Thomas Revell of the 1st East Surrey Regiment has been killed in action. His death occurred on 4 February when he was in action with his Battalion in Flanders. Much sympathy will naturally be felt for his widow, a native of Jersey, and the two little children left behind. Private Revell, who before he left to rejoin his Regiment, resided with his family in Springfield Road, was 33 and had been out of the Army for five years and was in the employ of Messrs Terry Brothers of the Esplanade, by whom he was greatly respected. Immediately on the outbreak of war he rejoined his Battalion and had enjoyed excellent health up to the last time a letter was received from him by his wife. To the widow and fatherless little ones we would tender our sincere sympathy in their bereavement.

At 8pm every evening, the Last Post is played inside the Menin Gate in remembrance
