Died of wounds, aged 23 years

NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Thursday 9 August 1917

Dangerously Wounded. We regret to hear that last evening Mrs Wilson of 50 Great Union Road received telegraphic information from the Record Office stating that her husband, who had been at the Front for some time, had been dangerously wounded and admitted to hospital. We trust that favourable news will shortly be received.

Roll of Honour. We regret to learn that news has been received by Mrs Wilson of 50 Great Union Road to the effect that her husband, Private C Wilson of the Machine Gun Corps, has died of wounds at a Casualty Clearing Station in France. It will be remembered that a few days ago we published a paragraph stating that Private Wilson had been wounded and expressing the hope that better news would soon follow. Unfortunately, as so often has been the case in this terrible war, the injuries were of so serious a nature as to preclude recovery. We tender our sincere sympathy to the widow and family
