Gunner John Henry Williams
494th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison
Artillery
I am attaching a photo of him in uniform
which is actually the only one that exists. I can tell
you I have a couple of him in civvies quite a few years
after the war. He became the licensee of the British
Hotel at Beaumont, Jersey. He was born in 1886 and died
in 1940.
On the marriage registration in 1919 his residence
is shown as France, with St. Helier as his temporary
residence.
The photograph shows John Williams with his wife, Kathleen
Harriet Lobb. She took over the British Hotel after
he died and ran it until 1955. Her brother was Private
Percy Reginald
Lobb of the RAOC during WW1.
