St Sampson's Memorial Tablet
Just inside St. Sampson's churchyard,
on the wall that borders Church Road, is a tablet that
commemorates eight Guernseymen who died as a result
of the Great War, and were buried in the cemetery. Only
one grave remains today as, in 1969, part of the graveyard
collapsed into a neighbouring quarry.
Two headstones were rescued and are now
in the Sally Port Magazine at Castle Cornet. More details
can be found in the Group Journal no.11
