Leading Seaman Frank Lucas

Born on 28/11/1885 at St Peter Port, Guernsey, the son of Alexis Lucas and Mary LeVallee. His father, born in Alderney, was also a mariner and then a fisherman.

He enlisted for 12 years on 28/11/1903. after being a fisherman's boy.
Frank married Harriett S Harris 1910 in Portsmouth with whom he had had 4 daughters by 1921. He re-enlisted on 28/11/1915. He was 5ft 0.5 in when he enlisted and had grown to 5ft 7in by 1915. Brown hair, grey eyes, fresh complexion, tattoos on left forearm (HJ), pierced heart on back of left hand, male on back, flags.

He started service as a Boy 2nd class (bugler?) and promoted to Able Seaman then Leading Seaman by 01/08/18 when he was on HMS Britannia where he served from 01/08/1913 to 15/12/1917. He also served on AMB Himalaya before returning to HMS Victory I, transferring to HMS Excellent on 18/08/1918.

He served on various ships after the war before becoming a war pensioner on 27/11/1925. Frank was brother of AB August Lucas with whom he served on HMS Britannia. He died on 27/05/1959, Portsmouth, Hampshire.
